The Montana Outdoor Rhythm Retreat

We invite you to join Drum Brothers and friends for a weekend filled with rhythm, fun, and heart-felt community. Drums were made to be played outside… our bodies to dance on the earth, our voices to lift song to the sky. Whether you're just beginning to explore the drum or already a seasoned player, join us as we camp together and celebrate through music this season of heat and beauty.
Our rhythm village will be set up in an aspen encircled meadow on 80 private acres bordered by the Flathead National Forest. Our camp will have all the necessary amenities, including a build bathhouse and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. Chef Darry Stearns will be joining us again to provide gourmet summertime cuisine. Directions to Montanagua Sanctuary, 20 miles west of Kalispell, and details about camping requirements will be sent when you register.
Our time together will be filled with morning song circles, West African hand-drumming classes for all levels, drum-making, and evening celebrations (get ready to drum, dance, and sing). We’ll also have afternoon free time to relax, hike, or dip into the spring pool on the property. Drum-makers will be building a 12"x 24" Ashiko drum. This dynamic and powerful hand drum is ideal for playing a variety of world rhythms. Extra drums will be available for new drummers.We will begin our circle with an evening meal at 6:30pm on Friday, August 13th. The retreat will continue until 3pm Sunday, August 15th. • Rhythm exploration: $220
• Drum Building cedar Ashiko drum: $370
• Drum Building hardwood Ashiko drum: $390 (choose either walnut or cherry)

Deposit option: To secure your place, pay a deposit of
$75. The remainder will be due when the retreat begins. Or just pay

Registration deadline is August 11th. Space is limited; register early to ensure your place. Upon the event of cancellation a $30.00 administration fee will be retained. There will be no refund if you cancel after August 7th, 2010. When we receive your registration, we'll send you a letter confirming details, directions, and schedule. Note: If you choose to build a hardwood Ashiko drum, we'll contact you about available hardwoods (usually walnut and cherry).
